The Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary is located in Sierra Leone.
The Sanctuary is to rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation of chimpanzees. It was established in 1995 and has since become a leading center for primate welfare in West Africa. They work to protect chimpanzees from the illegal pet trade, habitat destruction, and other threats, and also provide education and outreach programs to raise awareness about the importance of conservation. The sanctuary is home to over 106 endangered Western chimpanzees, Tacugama is actively involved in law enforcement to rescue and rehabilitate chimpanzees into their natural habitat. Chimps are often orphans, victims of the bush meat trade, human-wildlife conflict, or the illegal wildlife trade. And they provides them with a safe and natura Environment.
